“From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.”
What an amazing truth this is. I think that these verses clearly express God’s heart for His creation and His love for all nations and peoples of the world. As verse 27 says He is “not far away", and all one must do to find Him is “seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him.” What an encouragement this is for missions. All that the people of the earth need to find God, is to know that He exists. How can we expect those who have never heard of Him to find Him when no one has brought them the gospel? Romans 10:12-15 puts it this way:
“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”
Consider this your sending, what more of a calling do we need?
Dear Lord,
You are the Lord of the whole universe. You are the Lord of all peoples, even those who do not yet know You. You died for all men 2,000 years ago and one day You will worshipped by all men as You sit on Your throne. May that day be soon Lord. May the nations come to the knowledge of You as Your word is taken throughout the earth as Your servants obey Your call to go. What a marvelous and glorious day it will be when the multitude of men from every nation is singing praise to You!
Amen, let it be so!
