Emmanuel, God With Us

“This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear.”   Haggai 2:5

Isn’t it nice to know that we have a God whose Spirit remains among us, whose promises are trustworthy and true, and that we don’t have to fear when we place our trust in Him?  God promised to dwell among the Israelites as He brought them out of Egypt and despite Israel’s constant idolatry and rejection God kept true to His word.  Even now He remains among us.  Paul Baloche’s lyrics from Here and Now capture the wonder of having a God so big dwell in and among people so small:

“What majesty, what mystery,
The God of all eternity
Stepped into time and gave His life for me
Your hand is seen in galaxies,
Yet Your Spirit dwells in me
So vast and yet You’re still within our reach”

Dear Lord,
Thank You for living and dwelling among us.  Thank You for Your willingness to make Your home with a “filthy rag” like me.  Thank You that I do not have to fear because I know Your promises are true.  You are truly a good God.  I love You, thank You for loving me.

Amen
