Jonah 2:8
“Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.”
Psalm 106:20-21
“They exchanged their Glory for an image of a bull, which eats grass. They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt.”Jeremiah 2:11
"Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their Glory for worthless idols.”
Hosea 4:7
“The more the priests increased, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their Glory for something disgraceful.”
Romans 1:22-23, 25
“Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised. Amen.”
It has always left me in wonder thinking about why anyone would exchange the promises of God for something created by man. Yet I am guilty of doing it every day of my life as I seek my own agenda instead of Gods. It is so simple and yet we make it so complicated.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for Your grace and forgiveness, without it I could not enter Your presence(Ezra 9:15). Thank you for extending Your glory to us. Lord I repent of willingly exchanging the glory given me for worldly treasures that do not satisfy. Forgive me for this and renew my spirit within me so that I desire You and Your truth over the lies of this world. May Your glory dwell among me and may I treasure it as my most sacred possession.
Amen
